First Date Guide

So you want to know about that first date? How it should play out can depend on how you met.

Coffee Is A Good Option

If you have met online, or this is an arranged blind date, we suggest a coffee at a local cafe is a good starting point for an introductory date. And guys, be sure to let the girls choose a spot, she will feel much more comfortable and secure being in control of the location. This can only be a good thing, right?!

Meet In Public

A public location should always be chosen for a date of this kind. It is also advisable to let somebody know what you are doing, just in case! Don't let your pride get in the way, these kind of dates are becoming ever more common in today's society.

Not Too Long

Sometimes it is a good idea to make the first date a short one. Making this known up front is a good idea too, so that it doesn't appear that you are trying to make a run for it. An appointment or some other excuse might work well. Make your good impression and then follow up later while they are hopefully still keen. This also gives both parties the ability to get out if the date is not going badly.

Distract Yourself

Some people like to go to the gym, or do something to relieve stress before the date. This can stop you from overthinking things and remove some tension before the date starts.

Put in a bit of thought about topics you think might be enjoyable to discuss with your date. This can help you avoid getting a blank mind and panicking if you thought through some ideas.

Be On Time

It is good manners to be on time and shows your date respect.

Failing that, you should let your date know that you are running late. Try not to let this fluster you either. If you are late, then it has happened and you can't change it, so go with the flow.

Put some effort into your clothes so that your date will feel you are taking them seriously.

Dress in something you will find comfortable. You want to feel confident and be able to concentrate on your date and not on wishing you had worn a different outfit.

Also take into account the time, climate and setting you will be in and dress appropriately.

Review Your Date

Remember, not every date is perfect, but you can often learn something from a good or a bad date, if you are willing to take the time! You can then apply your new found wisdom on your next date.
